Brief Annotation:  Jon Scieszka, author of many humorous children’s books, reminisces about growing up in the 60’s in a house of 6 boys. His short stories about Halloween costumes, babysitting, and Catholic school are hilarious, and help to show where he got his sense of humor from

Genre: free choice chapter

Grade Level: 3-8

Readers who will like this: Children who like funny stories, children who like to hear stories about when their parents were younger

Rating/Response: 5 I thought that this book was laugh-out-loud funny, and I even shared some of the stories with my parents. It lead to a good discussion of what life was like when they were younger. This would even be a good read for adults!

One question you would ask before a read aloud: What do you think life was like when your parents were younger? When your grandparents were younger?
