Holes (Holes, #1)

Bibliographic Information: Sachar, L. Holes. New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1998. Print

Brief Annotation: A boy named Stanley Yelnats is a tough headed kid who is accused of stealing a pair of basketball shoes. He is sent to Camp Green Lake where he is expected to dig holes with other people at the camp. During his time at camp, he discovers who is really is and finds out the truth behind a lot of things.

Genre: Mystery

Grade Level: 3-6

Readers who will like this: Students who have attended a camp before and like mystery books.

Rating/Response: 4 I loved this book because it kept me on my toes and there was also something interesting happening. Stanley finds out who is really is at this camp and I think other kids can relate to Stanley.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: Have you ever been to a camp before?
