The Gadgets

Bibliographic Information: Horowitz, Anthony. (2006) The Gadgets. New York, NY:  Philomel Publishing.

Brief Annotation: This book offers an in depth look at the gadgets used by Alex Ryder in the Alex Ryder series (Stormbreaker, Scorpio, etc). This book offers blue prints of the gadgets coupled with direct references to the Alex Ryder novels in which they appear.

Genre: Informational (NF)

Grade Level: Grades 6-7

Readers who will like this: Readers who have read the Alex Ryder novels will like this. Also, students who are into mechanical objects and advanced technology will get a kick out of this book.

Rating/Response: 8/10. Very in depth, but not over the heads of it’s intended audience. This book is great for students who are awaiting the next Alex Ryder book (as I was one of them).

One question you would ask before a read aloud: If you could have a special gadget that could do anything, what would you choose?
